Meet Duck

A few key notes before we begin:

Duck is roughly 6 to 9 inches tall, but refuses to be measured. He steals donuts and only writes with crayons. But most importantly...

Duck loves drama. Deeply.

Legend has it that Duck was there the night Thespis first stepped out of the chorus, creating theater as we know it. In fact, some scholars believe it was Duck’s approving nod that gave Thespis the courage to do it.

For centuries since, Duck has calmed trembling hands and cheered from the catwalk. He’s swept up glitter, cut 2x4's, and scribbled little notes of encouragement (in crayon).

Of course, Duck has his mischievous side. He’s been caught napping in the wings, trying on wigs, or helping himself to donuts. But it’s only because he loves this world so deeply. He just wants to be there next to the theater kids, the directors, and the families who support them.

Duck believes in all of them. And he just wants to help. Because Duck knows something sacred: theater saves lives. It builds unlikely families. It teaches courage, compassion and resilience.

So from every missed cue to every standing ovation, Duck will always be there, with one simple message. The same message he nodded to Thespis centuries ago, and the only message that ever really mattered:

"You are loved."

  • An Elizabethan-era painting of William Shakespeare looking not annoyed at all.

  • In a cruel twist of fate, Duck's overly-critical father was in the audience.

  • Duck using an outdated but still effective fundraising method.
